Located in the rolling plains of North Central Montana, JR Ranch was originally part of Stewart Ranch. Started by Morris Stewart, who homesteaded on the land in the 1920’s. In 1992 JR Ranch separated from Stewart Ranch and currently runs about 170 head of beef cattle (mostly Angus and Angus mix). It is run by John Stewart (Morris’ son), Dan Stewart (John’s son), and Ruth Stewart (Dan’s wife).
Joan Stewart (John’s wife, Dan’s mother) also helped to run the Ranch until her untimely death of cancer in June of 2007.
